Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree ( )
in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Chemical
Engineering.
- Preferred: Master’s
degree or MS Candidate in a related field with coursework
in analytical chemistry, natural product chemistry, or separation
science.
- Hands-on experience with microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) systems
(e.g., domestic or scientific microwave reactors with temperature/pressure
control).
- Knowledgeable in preparation and
characterization especially deep eutectic solvents (DES)
- Proficiency in UV-Vis spectrophotometry
and HPLC for polyphenol quantification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and
characterize at least 3–4 different DES compositions
- Collect, dry, grind, and
standardize vegetable peel
waste.
- Perform microwave-assisted
extractions using a systematic Box-Behnken design (3 factors, 3
levels
- Quantify total polyphenol content,
identify and quantify individual polyphenols using HPLC.
- Apply RSM (Box-Behnken) to
determine optimal extraction conditions and validate the
model
- Evaluate DES recyclability –
recover and reuse DES for 2–3 cycles.
- Maintain all raw data, spectra,
chromatograms, and statistical outputs for final
reporting.
- Responsible for daily operation of the
research laboratory, monitor experiments and record
data.
- Follow institutional chemical safety
protocols and prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Assist in training undergraduate
students on basic assays and order and inventory of chemicals.
