As part of the college’s initiatives to further strengthen academic collaborations and international linkages, the Department of Technology Teacher Education (DTTE) of the College of Education (CED) is hosting Prof. Dr. Alias Bin Masek of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UHTM) from April 6–30, 2026.
Prof. Masek, an Associate Professor in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at UHTM, is set to engage in various research activities and academic lectures at MSU-IIT. These activities include lectures and workshops for undergraduate and graduate courses in CED, speaking engagements at various research forums and dialogues, and serving as an external panel member for graduate students’ thesis defenses. The visiting professor will focus his lecture on research design, methodology, and publication strategies, during which graduate students will also have the opportunity to participate in mentoring sessions.
Prior to his arrival on campus, Prof. Masek had already begun working with the DTTE department through team teaching with faculty members: Asst. Prof. Victor S. Rosales, Prof. Adelfa C. Silor, and Assoc. Prof. Roque B. Requino. He held online lectures on Renewable Energy (Solar PV System), Competency-Based Training and Assessment, Sensors and Automation for Building Electrical System, and Methods of Research.
As part of his visiting professorship, Prof. Masek will further collaborate with the CED faculty through roundtable discussions on research productivity and impact, as well as on strategies to increase international publications and citations.
During Research Days 2026 on campus, Prof. Masek will deliver a lecture on TVET Research Innovation. He will also conduct a faculty development lecture-workshop on writing and publishing in Scopus-indexed journals and research ethics. Consultations with faculty researchers on campus will also take place.
In addition to his on-campus engagements, Prof. Masek is also slated to speak at the forthcoming TVET Forum 2026, a regional gathering that will bring together technical and vocational education institutions from across Mindanao.
